TROY LAKE

Our very first CMCS syndicate lake is opening in 2024 and what a place to do it. The home of the historic British big carp scene, right in the heart of the famous colne valley.

The very mention of 45 acre Troy lake has the hairs on the back of any informed carp angler's neck standing on end.

Located in the heart of the Secret Colne Valley, it's a venue that had been at the forefront of specimen carp fishing for many years and despite the numerous books and magazine articles that have been written about the lake during that time, it’s a place which remains solely in most anglers imagination.

Since the Angling was allowed at the beginning of the 1980's the total number of people who have been lucky enough to have chased the inhabitants are relatively small, meaning there is still a very strong sense of mystery surrounding this unique lake.

We have secured the rights to fish Troy lake a place steeped in British carp fishing history and somewhere that has produced some big british giants in the past. The stock largely is unknown due to a fish kill in 2017 and the sparse nature it is fished, but we know the lake contains known species including carp, pike, and tench. There has been carp stocked in the last few years upto 20lb which have thrived on neglect and have been coming out around high twenties to mid thirties in 2023 from captures. We estimate from stocking that there is around 100 Carp present like all our lakes we will be stocking hand picked CMCS carp to bring this number up gradually in keeping with the specimen low stock venue it will become. We plan to stock Autumn 2024 and a feed programme implemented from march 2024 to bring the existing and new stock on so they are quickly over 30lb and potentially touching 40lb very soon.

As the lake is a gravel pit, 15 swims are available for anglers to choose from, and parking is conveniently provided by the water or within a short walk. The presence of several gravel bars makes feature finding relatively easy, helping anglers identify productive areas. The fish are very used to big beds of pellet and flaked feed with shoals of grazing carp clearing up some big beds in short order so don’t be afraid to apply a good quantity of bait. We are happy to supply the anglers the pellet and flaked feed they are fed aswell as the house boilie should you require www.cmcsfishfeed.com

Facilities are on site

The venue offers 15 swims for anglers to fish from. However, it’s important to note that fishing is currently restricted to one area. Discussions with the surrounding landowners are underway in the hope of providing access to additional locations in the near future. We have managed to secure access for the syndicate members to the sailing club toilets, showers and brand new club house with bar under construction. This privilege will be revoked should any mis-use occur please leave it as you found it preferably better and pay for any produce used!. We will also be running various events throughout the year to bring all the syndicate together to get a real good old school sense of camaraderie and will give the people a chance on the waiting list to meet and greet the syndicate and help to integrate them onto the syndicate when a space arises. We will also hold syndicate meetings twice a year to discuss work and to suggest improvements to the lake and vet potential new members.

Is parking available?

There are two main parking areas at Troy Lake. The first location is by the 1st swim, while the second parking area is accessible through the locked barrier gate. Anglers can continue on to the gravel area beyond the bridge leading to the sailing club. We are also working on some track pullins to help further ease the parking.

The syndicate will be restricted to a small set number of anglers and all will have filled out the questionnaire, be interviewed and vetted individually onto the syndicate with the first year a probationary period for all members you have been warned! We will be operating a syndicate waiting list with members on this being able to help around the lake with maintenance and a select few offered opportunities to experience the venue as guests with members throughout the year and a small number of winter tickets to get to know the lads at the top of the waiting list before entry to syndicate in an early vetting process. The lads that ultimately make themselves available in the first instance to do maintenance on the venue to get it up to scratch will be considered for the syndicate after being vetted, with the ones missing out added to waiting list which will have a small fee to join the list taken off your first years fees. To join the waiting list please contact cmcsfisheries@gmail.com or 07985410020 8am to 8pm daily.

This is a unique opportunity to join something early that will very quickly become somewhere that will be revered by many. Just take a look at what Chris has achieved with lakes we own & run Holme Grange, Pans Lake and in the past on clients lake Orchid with fish growth, this will be a very prestigious place in years to come and will be a closed shop very quickly as the fish just grow in size. There is a lot of natural feed in this lake and the fish under Chris’s guidance will flourish and will be pushing lake records in a short number of years.
